Kechria beach taverna

On the North side of the island a haven of    tranquility named Kechria is located. It is a water side which combines a beach and a nice traditional kantina.

It is the perfect location for a long day out, far away from everything.
First you swim, then you eat, and then you lay down under the olive trees and relax..

This special taverna has been there for many, many years, and has offered its visitors a lovely day, plain but good food, and a great atmosphere. The traditional Greek dishes, that are prepared with great care, seem to taste even better when you consume them so close to the sea in this unspoilt natural environment.

There is space for sunbathing on two sides where there is
sand and stones, but it is actually much more comfortable to lie down on the grass.

The area surrounding Kechria is absolutely stunning, and worth a visit for many reasons. Its nature is different from the south side of the island. Rough rocks break the strong colors of the green of the trees and the blue of the sea.
Inland there is a lovely stream bed with some unbelievable old Plane trees in extraordinary shapes, and a unique flora and fauna, different to the rest of the island.
The monastery of Kechria, a bit further up the hill is very authentic, and interesting to visit.

The taverna is very popular with the local people, and especially on Sundays it will seem like one big family gathering. People eating, kids playing, socializing and of course wine and tsipouro.
The owner, Argyris and his family are always there to give their special care to this unique family business.

This is a perfect Greek holiday dream.

Beauty and simplicity, flavors and aromas, a breeze,
sounds of crickets, the sound of the sea.

Tsipouro, ouzo or wine and a Greek salad, fresh fishes and olive oil.
an ever growing company and no watch to tell the time........
