Dear Acropolitan, Cannot argue about the beaches, definetely the best in the parts of Greece we have to. However on larger Islands great beaches can be found if you look, this is 1 of the advantages of going to a bigger Island. I have been to Skiathos 3 times in the last 10 years and have'nt found any historical sites...are there any ? There are loads on Samos, Crete and Lesbos, maybe another advantage over Skiathos. I have to agree with some on this bulletin board with regards to some of the shop keepers. We stayed in Koukounaries this year and found the supermarket near to the Augestera bar friendly and accommodating. BUT the one next to the Stamelos bar appalling for rudeness and the lack of customer service. This was the exception to the rule, but I have to say that we have'nt found this attitude in any of the other regions of Greece we have visited. Next year off to Parga on the mainland, have heard it is fantastic.
