Local Contacts

Having built 3 houses (well, actually 4 houses because we re-built our first house) we have had a lot of experience with local builders, carpenters, plumbers, in fact everyone who is connected to the building trade from architects to roof tilers. We mostly built our houses ourselves, (see photos of 2 of them on our Zorbathes page: The Farmhouse & The Barn ) partly because we only built as the funds became available but also because we had seen a lot of bad work done by some local craftsmen & preferred to make our OWN mistakes. Over the course of the years we have used & worked with many local builders, sub-contractors, etc. & we have slowly managed to sort the sheep from the goats. Now we know who to recommend & who not to. We can give advice on just about all aspects of land ownership, water development, house construction or renovation, getting connected to the electricity & telephone & Internet networks & believe we can help a first time buyer avoid some (but not all) of the pitfalls of land & villa ownership in Greece.
Obviously we cannot guarantee that our advice will always give perfect results, perfection is nearly always impossible to achieve. Part of the charm of living here is that life is often chaotic & some things will never be done as one would wish, but sometimes wonderful things happen completely out of the blue to make one realise why Greece & Skiathos are special.
